Ahead of the “2025 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in The Hague” (24 – 25 Jun. 2025) we ask leaders and decision makers to further focus their effort on the development of global democracy as the best way towards global & sustainable peace.
We wish to have a discussion and official debate about (1) developing a global constitution out of the “United Nations Charter” and the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” and (2) about transforming the “United Nations General Assembly” into a “Global Parliament” (e.g. unpacampaign.org) and integrating the “United Nations Security Council” into a global governmental structure.
Furthermore, we urge the leaders and decision makers to officially acknowledge, the currently by far greatest (security) threat to humanity is global warming, climate change, and the loss of biodiversity. Weapons against each other will not help to significantly & fast reduce global annual “greenhouse gas” (GHG) emissions. The key performance indicator (KPI) within global politics and global security is currently reducing global GHG emissions by minus 40% within the upcoming 5 years!
We are heading towards a humanitarian catastrophe within the upcoming years much greater then the 2nd World War (e.g. see the following scenario and the graph from “World Meteorological Organization – WMO“: Sea level rise from 1993-2025).
That is why we pledge for the immediate and most important transformation of the “United Nations” into a “Global Democratic Republic“. This includes a global deterrence and defences architecture and independent financing with a global tax system (including e.g. a global “Tobin Tax”).
