Youth Webinar Series on Inclusive Governance, Representation & Climate Justice.

Welcome to Global Democratic Futures, a five-session webinar series that explores the connections between global democracy, inclusive governance, representation and climate justice.

The series is organised by IDGR (Institute for the Development of a Global Democratic Republic) in collaboration with a growing network of organisations and partners committed to strengthening youth participation, democratic governance and climate action.

The webinar series is part of IDGR’s journey towards the UN Climate Change COP31 in Antalya and aims to create a space where young people and organisations can learn from one another, exchange perspectives and contribute to the development of ideas for more democratic and representative global governance.

Who is the series for?

The webinar series is open to everybody, particularly for:

Young activists and youth leaders
Students and young professionals
NGOs and civil society organisations
Educational institutions
Youth constituencies and networks, including YOUNGO, CYMG, GMCY and others
People interested in global democracy, climate justice and inclusive governance

Participants from different regions, backgrounds and perspectives are encouraged to take part.

Overview on the five sessions

Session 1 — Foundations of a “Global Democratic Republic” – 10 September 2026
An introduction to the concept of global democratic governance and the vision of a Global Democratic Republic. We will explore why existing global governance structures may need to evolve and what a more democratic global system could look like.

Session 2 — Designing Just Global Voting Systems – 17 September 2026
How could a global democratic vote work? We will discuss principles for fair and inclusive voting systems and consider questions of participation, legitimacy and representation.

Session 3 — Regional Representation & Equity – 24 September 2026
Global democracy also raises important questions about regional and geographical representation. This session will explore inequalities in global decision-making and how different regions and communities can be meaningfully represented.

Session 4 — Climate Governance & the UNFCCC – 1 October 2026
We will connect the discussion on global democracy with the international climate governance system, including the UNFCCC, and explore opportunities for stronger participation and representation in global climate decision-making.

Session 5 — Building Democratic Systems for Climate Justice – 8 October 2026
The final session will bring together the ideas and perspectives developed throughout the series. Participants will contribute to the development of a Youth Declaration on Democratic Climate Governance.

The series will conclude with a Closing & Certificate Ceremony.

Dates: Every Thursday, 10 September – 8 October 2026
Time: 16:00–17:30 UTC
Format: Online (Microsoft Teams)

Certificate: Participants who attend at least 4 out of the 5 sessions will receive a certificate of participation.

What happens after you register?

Once you complete the registration form, you will receive in a couple of days the practical information needed to participate.
You will receive:

Calendar invitations for all five webinar sessions, so you can save the dates in advance.
Joining information and webinar links for each session.
An invitation to join our WhatsApp Community for reminders, updates, and opportunities throughout the series. Email will remain the main communication channel, while joining the WhatsApp Community is optional but recommended for timely updates.
