Werner holds a university degree (Master) as biologist with a focus on environmental management and has been working independently in the area of sustainability management for over 20 years.
From 1997 till 2008, he was teaching environmental management at the University of Innsbruck and the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI).
In collaboration with the company Syneco, he initiated various innovation projects, such as the establishment of a competence center for ecodesign in Bolzano and supported companies in the development and implementation of sustainable innovation projects. Since 2016 he is certified auditor in the areas of ISO 9001 / 14001 and 45001.
He is also experienced with the delivery of complex EU projects, e.g. from 2018-2022 the RiKoST project – risk communication strategies – for the province of Bolzano.
