Global health is the path and will deliver global peace

Karl Baumann, April 27, 2025May 22, 2025

We have a dream – a world with all the people, yes, all the people living withing a global healthy and thus sustainable society peacefully together. To make this dream a reality, there are three core concepts important in our view – (1) the skill of all the people for patience, consciousness, discipline, and good imagination (“love“), (2) the direct involvement of the people in the decision making (“democracy“), and (3) the organisational separation of decision making (“republic“).

(1) “Love” is the domain of religion, (2) “democracy” and (3) “republic” is the domain of (geo)politics.

There are two main reasons for war and conflicts within our human society – (1) religion and (2) boarders. Both are man made and thus can be mitigated by man, by us.

A war based on religion (and thus love) is most absurd

A war due to religion is in our view most absurd, since the basic concept of all religions is “love“. A healthy understanding of the concept of “love” can not justify the killing of another human being. Killing another human being, out of other reasons than self-defence, is in our view not explainable, it is sick.

The concept of “love” means primarily honesty, empathy, vulnerability and applies kindness, forgiveness, and generosity and the best path into love is via thankfulness. And “love” is a skill, everyone can learn (cf. e.g. Erich Fromm, 1956: The Art of Loving). Feelings, wishes, and desires can be expressed, although they might be hurt and/or rejected.

A war based on boarders shows the deadly power of nationalism

Within Europe, there was the second world war. During this time, e.g. the region of “South Tyrol” was hard-fought, people were departed based on their language (German or Italian), and a new boarder was found. Today, the region is part of “Italy” and also part of a multinational concept, the “European Union“, with its “Schengen Agreement” connecting “Italy” with “Austria”and “South Tyrol” is peacefully connected.

For 28 years, there was a physical boarder, a wall between East- & West-Germany. The physical boarder, the wall is gone since November 1989, for more than 35 years now. The latest German elections (“Bundestagswahl 2025”) shows very clearly, the boarder, the wall is still there (see e.g. the graph from zdfheute.de: “Bundestagswahl 2025: So haben die Wahlkreise gestimmt“). The boarder, the wall is still there within the brains of the people. “Culture eats strategy for breakfast” means within this context, 28 years of isolation within a very different culture and system produced a boarder, a wall within the brains of the people. It is very hard work to actually transform this kind of self-conceptualisation, to actually tear down such a wall (within the brains) and (re-)connect the people.

Nothing justifies the killing of a human being

In our view, nothing, actually nothing justifies the killing of a human being. A physically, mentally, and socially healthy person will never kill another human being. Many studies show, we humans are born as social creatures and have the ability to learn the skill of “love“.

Within the entire human history, there have been only very view days (ca. 50) with no war on some place on this plant.

0.1% of “deterrence and defence” investments into the development of a “Global Democratic Republic”

Currently, the “North Atlantic Treaty Organization” (NATO) countries are increasing its investments into “deterrence and defence” up to 3% of the national “Gross Domestic Products” (GDP).

We ask for an investment of 0.1% of this budget into proactive “peace building” actions. This means investments into physical, mental, and social health promotion actions of all people on this planet Earth and investments in building up a global democracy with its global institutions (“republic”) out of the current “United Nations” institutions – we call this a “Global Democratic Republic“.

Let us develop a healthy and thus sustainable global society. Let us make our planet Earth great.
