The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) is one of the largest (unofficial) “market research instruments” for society’s current emotional state, demonstrating year after year how sophisticated art can still assert itself brilliantly against pop culture. One of the most impressive stories in this context emerged in 2017 with Salvador Sobral’s clear victory with the song “Amar Pelos Dois (For The Both Of Us).” Without wanting to delve into the depths of art criticism, a song that was able to reach people’s hearts in a surprisingly simple way. It shows that people’s hearts, love, and the feeling of togetherness continue to be present in the majority of society.

Of course, this is just one of many examples we can describe from art and culture that demonstrate how important and essential emotions and feelings are. Erich Fromm writes quite clearly that we can love, essentially everyone. Alfred Adler describes the “sense of community” in this context.
